Oct. 18, 2012: Almost 365 days after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo first announced he would fast-track the replacement of the Tappan Zee Bridge, the state is poised to select a contractor and start construction. The Federal Highway Administration formally concluded the required environmental review on Sept. 25 and gave the state the green light to proceed with the estimated $5.2 billion project. More

Virginia Gov. McDonnell announces private team selected to design, build and finance new Route 460 in southeast Virginia

Oct. 25, 2012: Gov. Bob McDonnell announced that the commonwealth has selected U.S. 460 Mobility Partners to finance, design and build a new 55-mile stretch of Route 460 in southeastern Virginia. The selection was made after a two-year procurement process involving detailed review and evaluation of private-sector proposals. Construction will be financed through a combination of public dollars and tolls. The existing Route 460 remains free. More

Fort Irwin, Calif., to build $400 million hospital

Jan. 19, 2012: Fort Irwin, Calif., expects to break ground this summer on a new $400 million hospital, which will replace the post's current 40-year-old facility. Construction on the 216,000-square-foot hospital should begin in June and wrap up by summer 2015, according to Col. Michael Kiefer, Fort Irwin's Medical Department Activity commander. More
