Brief remarks by LIFT Representative, followed by holiday fun!
In the spirit of peace, joy and giving this holiday season, please join DFWAE at our annual Holiday Luncheon benefiting LIFT (Literacy Instruction for Texas). LIFT's mission is to enhance lives and strengthen communities by teaching adults to read. Founded in 1961, LIFT serves over 5,000 adult students every year through the dedication of 350 volunteer teachers. Ways you may voluntarily support LIFT at the luncheon include your monetary and in-kind donations.
11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m – Registration and Networking
12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. – Luncheon and Presentation

From the simple 20-second testimonial to the 8-minute Opening Session video at your annual convention, Renee and Darrin will explain how you can incorporate video into your marketing and how much it will cost to make it happen. Some video you can do yourself and some will break your budget. In this session, you will learn how to recognize the difference.

DFWAE Choosing Leadership program
Will you choose to be a leader? Julie Hall of Custom Websites to Go, and Roseanne Duke of International Association of Venue Management, have become DFWAE’s first Choosing Leadership participants. This new program for DFWAE members is designed for those wanting to brush up on their leadership skills, and it is so named because we know leaders are made, not born. We hope Julie’s and Roseanne’s demonstration of initiative will “lead” other members into signing up. Orientation should be more than a familiarization tour

Most organizations conduct board orientation periodically. The audience, delivery, content and frequency vary broadly. There is even difference as to whether the process is exclusively for new leaders or should include the entire board. At a national association recently, when the orientation began I observed the seasoned board members leave for the lounge while four new directors were briefed by staff. Orientation is a chance to impart knowledge and to protect the organization. Don't let it be just a familiarization tour for new directors.
