CVB workshop in Macon, Ga., aims to convert locals
into ambassadors

During the past few months, the CVB has hosted seven "I Am Macon" workshops, giving 187 participants a certificate proclaiming each of them a "Macon Tourism Ambassador." Participants came from Macon restaurants, hotels, museums, attractions and organizations, such as the Ocmulgee National Monument.

Despite Hurricane Sandy, the Garden State set a tourism dollar record last year as it raked in more than $40 billion. That figure tops the $38 billion tourism revenue in 2011, which saw the Jersey Shore evacuated and Atlantic City shut down for Hurricane Irene the week before Labor Day.
