Region VII directors announce a GWA Connect meeting on July 24, 2014, at 9:45 a.m. There will be networking time in advance of the Sawaya container trials tour later that morning. The address for the connect meeting is the Tim Hortons at 15 Queensway Dr. E Simcoe, N3Y 4Y2. (Full details of the tour are in Region VII news in the latest Quill & Trowel.) The Tim's is about 10 minutes west of the Trials site. The site is in SW Ontario and may be accessible and of interest to some Region I & III members who would be most warmly welcomed.

Amazon dangles e-book offer amid Hachette dispute
The Wall Street Journal
Amazon.com Inc. appealed directly to authors in a bitter publishing dispute, hoping to gain hearts and minds — and leverage — against Hachette Book Group in talks that could affect e-book pricing industrywide. The Web retailing giant has proposed letting Hachette authors keep 100 percent of the revenue from their digital-book sales while the online retailer and publisher continue tense negotiations over a new e-book contract. Hachette quickly rejected the proposal.
