DOJ settlement would require Apple to allow links to Amazon, Barnes & Noble e-book stores
Apple Insider
The terms of the proposed settlement in the Apple e-book price fixing case have been published by the Justice Department. Though Amazon and Barnes & Noble were singled out, the policy could apply to other e-book sellers as well. The DOJ said the change would allow consumers on the iPad and iPhone to "easily compare Apple's prices with those of its competitors." Currently, Apple takes a 30 percent cut of all in-app purchases made through App Store software, and does not allow developers to circumvent this rule by linking to a website for purchases.

Pin now, read later: Pinterest as a content sharing platform
ReadWrite

Surveying publisher approaches to e-book production
Publishing Perspectives
If you're a publisher entering or engaged in the e-book publishing market, what is the best option for getting your e-books produced? If you go online for guidance, posing the question in an e-book production and publishing discussion group, you will hear about solutions that work, and then how those same solutions don't work. The new explosion in audio books
The Wall Street Journal
Cory Wilbur, a 25-year-old software engineer in Boston, never used to read much. He barely cracked a book in college and would read one or two a year on vacation, at most. But in the past year, he's finished 10 books. He listens to audio books in snippets throughout the day on his iPhone during his morning workout, on his 20-minute commute to work, and while he's cooking dinner or cleaning up.

Here's why Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post
Business Insider
Jeff Bezos is an investor in Business Insider, so in the wake of news that he's buying the Washington Post, folks have been asking me two questions: What's it like being owned or invested in by Jeff Bezos?
