I’m sure you’ve heard it before: “correlation is not causation”. But, what does that mean? A correlation describes the association between two or more variables. For example, you might learn that people with more knowledge about “X” are also the most productive at “Y”. In light of these findings, it can be tempting to think: X causes Y. Let’s implement X, so that we can increase Y at our organization.
Unfortunately, correlational studies only establish one of three conditions of causality: association. To establish that X causes Y, an evaluator must also address two additional conditions: establishing temporal order and ruling out alternative explanations.
The 2016 and 2017 recorded conference sessions are now available! Relive your favourite sessions or catch up on ones you may have missed. Conference attendees and I4PL members receive 50% off the recorded sessions for a limited time, click here for more information and to purchase your sessions.

Classroom training continues to remain the most popular training technique in the learning space. However, is there anything that can be done to improve classroom training to suit the ever-changing training needs of an organization and rollout holistic training? Is there a way to deliver the key learnings from a classroom training program as just-in-time training to employees? Certainly! And the answer lies in technology-enabled learning, because of which many organizations are making a conscious decision to combine classroom training programs with online learning.
Training Industry Magazine
E-learning seems to be the best way to deliver corporate training at scale. Yet, traditional e-learning is far from engaging. What if that training increased learner engagement and mastery while decreasing training time?
Learning Solutions Magazine
Changes in learners' expectations and ever-evolving tools and technologies are transforming workplace learning. The e-Learning Guild is facilitating a community conversation about what this means for e-learning professionals, executives, and other members of the e-learning industry. Learning Solutions brings its audience a constant stream of content addressing the design, development and impact of technology on workplace learning and training.
If you offer e-learning as part of your course offering, it's crucial that you get the course content right to give your students the best experience possible. As your students will be working through most or all of the course content by themselves, you want to make sure everything is as easy to use and as clear as possible.
Whether you're creating your e-learning in-house or via third parties, the software you choose makes a huge difference to the end product and your content's shelf life. There are two main software considerations when it comes to e-learning: how you will author your content, and how you will deploy it.
