Travelers Booking Hotel Rooms Further in Advance, TravelClick Reports

Individual business and leisure travelers are making hotel reservations further in advance, indicating they have a higher price tolerance and are planning further ahead, according to hotel consultancy TravelClick, which released its latest analysis of hotel reservations early this month. "The most recent TravelClick data presents a clear shift in when travelers are booking hotel rooms," said TravelClick Executive Vice President of Research and Development Tim Hart. "Business and leisure travelers are booking further in advance, no longer holding out until the last minute. For hoteliers, this means that it is important to account for this shift in the booking window in their forecasting, relying less on comparisons to last year's booking pace and more on recent booking pace trends."

UFI Congress in Abu Dhabi on Track to Break Attendance Records

UFI, The Global Association for the Exhibition Industry's Congress, coming up 6-9 November in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is on track to break all-time attendance records that were set at the 2010 event in Singapore that drew 425 attendees (including all delegates, speakers, staff and accompanying persons). "We are now a few past that and aiming for 450-plus," said Paul Woodward, UFI's managing director. "There are already over 50 countries represented. This is, to put it mildly, really encouraging!"

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events™ (IAEE) announces the recipients of its annual Art of the Show competition. Of this year's 199 submissions, 42 entries will be honored for their combination of several essential marketing elements needed to promote exhibitions and events. This year's competition garnered submissions from the United States, Canada and England. The winning entries will be on display at Expo! Expo! IAEE's Annual Meeting & Exhibition to be held 4-6 December 2012 in Orlando, Fla.

The new contract to manage the Miami Conference Center, the 28,000-square-foot Riverfront Hall exhibit space and a 4,600-seat theater marks the venue management firm's return to the Miami market.
