Visalia Transit Center's new expansion has closed to re-do new brick pavers that were installed with recent construction. The pavers are not up to a new standard set by the Interlocking Concrete Paving Institute, transit employee Gamaliel Anguiano said. The city is taking care of the issue now, while the pavers are still under warranty.

This week, much of the economic news was about housing. Given that the economic crisis began with the busting of the housing bubble, the housing and construction sectors continue to garner a lot of attention in conversations about the larger macroeconomy. Overall housing starts fell from a high of 2.1 million homes being built in 2005 and quickly plummeted to
around 500,000 housing starts, where they have more or less remained ever since. This has had a tremendous impact on the domestic construction sector, which continues to struggle.
