The IGDA's annual Developer Satisfaction Survey (DSS) concludes this Saturday, 15 April! We really need your help to boost the signal and and gather critical developer opinions on a wide range of topics affecting the game industry, from platform preferences to general outlook to diversity to work-life balance.

The 4th edition of LocJAM, the worldwide game localization contest for game translators and organized by the IGDA Localization SIG, will on 15 April! A short open source game in English is published on the locjam.org site and participants have a couple of weeks to submit their translations in French/German/Italian/Japanese/Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil),Russian, and Spanish (Spain and Latin America). A jury of experts picks thei winning Amateur and Professional translators for each language, which get listed on the site and are offered studio tours. The contest itself 100% online and you can participate from anywhere in the world. There are also optional and independent local workshops for those who want to know more about game localization The event is completely free and non-profit, with support of the IGDA Foundation. World Trademark Review
A poll conducted by World Trademark Review at recent gaming conference EGX Rezzed suggests only a small percentage of independent video game developers consider registered trademark protection during the process of releasing a game. While various reasons were stated, one repeatedly brought up was the daunting prospect of approaching a law firm, with a more bespoke approach suggested in a bid to benefit both communities.

Consumers with Microsoft devices will be unable to download and use emulators from the Windows Store thanks to efforts to clamp down on games piracy. Microsoft previously announced it would be changing the Windows Store policies in order to block all emulation of video game systems, but has now begun removing software such as Univeral Emulator (formerly known as NESBox) from the marketplace.
