EA: Fees for downloading mobile games will disappear
FierceMobileIT
Paying a fee to download a mobile game is "slowly disappearing," says Blake Jorgensen, chief financial officer at gaming firm Electronic Arts. According to Gartner, free apps account for around 60 percent of Apple's App Store downloads, while they account for 80 percent of Google Play downloads. Instead of charging for downloads, mobile app developers are increasingly turning to in-app purchasing, or IAP, to generate revenue.

Making games in Qatar
Polygon
The trick, says Fatima Al-Kuwari, is to look at the camels. It's a test devised by the Qatar native to determine if a video game set in her home country was developed by locals. And games rarely pass. She describes a scene with a camel in the desert, saying an outsider might see that and not think much of it, or think it's a stereotypical icon to represent Arab culture.

10 dumb statements about video games by US politicians
Complex
Elders blame youth culture when anything goes wrong. They blamed rock and roll, they blamed hip hop, they blamed MTV, and they blame video games. Sometimes, these discussions are productive — the ESRB ratings system was a product of political dialogue, and it’s considered one of the finest examples of self-regulation in the entertainment industry.
