Thank You for a Successful 2015 Leadership Summit!
We are still reeling from the hugely successful Leadership Summit! We thank everyone who attended and the positive feedback is still rolling in!

The summit could not have started on a better note than with opening keynote Kristina Reed, Producer and Strategist, formerly of Disney Animation Studios. Her in-depth discussion on inclusion left the room feeling excited and inspired. With over 20 years experience, she drew on many real-life examples (including Burning Man!) of how inclusivity empowers people to new heights of creativity.

Next up, we had the widely respected indie leader Rami Ismail, who is with business development at Vlambeer. Rami never thought of himself as a leader, but now finds himself in a position uses his platform and voice to help move the industry in the right direction, promoting other voices that want to do good for the gaming industry.

Continuing the powerful keynote run was Shannon Loftis. Shannon is the General Manager of Microsoft Studios Global Publishing and also focused on inclusivity, which was clearly a strong theme for the Leadership Summit, and also touched on the other themes heavily, including diversity and respecting all gamers. Day two opened with a keynote focused on how engaged employees greatly benefit the bottom line. From Happy Brain Science, Chief Happiness Officer Scott Crabtree confirmed, "Success was [is] achieved by leaders and employees working together and building trust." Definitely worth mentioning was the fireside chat with Kiki Wolfkill, Studio Head at 343 industries, and Ed Fries, former vice president of Game Publishing at Microsoft.

We send a HUGE thank you to our sponsors and partners, including: Missed it?

Using creativity to make both meaning and money
here are two kinds of people in the game industry. Those who think that the industry is in fantastic shape and has entered a Golden Age where the sky is the limit. And those who think it is broken, a creative morass where very little new gets created each year. Megan Gaiser, the founder of Contagious Creativity and former CEO of Her Interactive (the maker of the Nancy Drew games for girls), believes that the game industry has a lot of potential but has a long way to go before it taps the full talents of the diverse people who work within it.

Before gaming on iOS and Apple TV, there was Pippin
It’s hard to deny that Apple’s got a hell of a track record. From the original Macintosh computer, to the iPod, to the iPhone, the star of Silicon Valley is constantly innovating. And with each new product comes new, greater success. But this hasn’t always been the case. Remember when the seemingly infallible tech company tried, and failed, to crack the game industry? The Apple Pippin was built to be a revolutionary game-changer, but became little more than an embarrassing footnote in the company’s history.

How video games have become the perfect storytelling medium
Tech Times
If you grabbed a copy of Until Dawn for your PlayStation 4 recently, you've already delved into the game, as well as the game's involved story. Although other games have embraced video games as storytelling devices, Until Dawn takes it a step further, using the butterfly effect and letting you know exactly when and how your choices within the game affect outcomes. This isn't a new concept, of course, but with the big push Sony gave for Until Dawn, it's an example of a growing trend of how developers embrace video games as mediums for telling stories.
