Travel industry expects record employment level in 2014

The U.S. Travel Association recently announced that the industry has made up for 99 percent of the jobs lost during the last recession, compared to the 86 percent of other industries. With an average of 10,000 jobs created per month in 2013, the travel industry is now showing just 5,000 jobs short of its pre-recession level of employment. At the pace with which the industry is improving, industry leaders are confident of a new record level of employment by mid-2014. Here's why.

Mexico City asks residents, tourists the unthinkable: 'Drink the water'

"Drink the water." It's a suggestion alien to Mexico City residents who have long shunned tap water in favor of the bottled kind and to the throngs of tourists who visit the city each year, bringing with them fears of "Montezuma's Revenge." But a law recently approved by Mexico City's legislators will require all restaurants to install filters, offering patrons free, apparently drinkable potable water that won't lead to stomach problems and other ailments.
