Another successful IGLTA-ITB partnership
IGLTA    Share   E-mail article
The 45th edition of ITB closed its doors on a successful note March 13: Attendance was stable with a total of nearly 170,000 visitors — including upward of 110,000 trade professionals. IGLTA's 60-square-meter stand within the all-new Gay Pavilion was filled with the brochures of more than a dozen IGLTA members and was staffed by IGLTA personal, ambassadors and booth-sharing partners from around the globe. The IGLTA stand was also the center of media attention on the opening day as Berlin Mayor Klaus Wowereit paid a visit to the Gay Pavilion — one of just six stops on his tour of the 160,000-square-meter trade show. At least 70 ambassadors and 49 government officials visited the show, which included more than 11,000 exhibitors from 188 countries.

ITB also attracted 60,000 consumers and was covered by more than 7,000 journalists from 94 countries. ITB organizers renewed their dedication to the LGBT market by creating the 170-square-meter Gay Pavilion this year and making the gay and lesbian segment the focus — for the second year — of a panel discussion. IGLTA member Thomas Bömkes of Tom on Tour moderated the panel, which featured IGLTA Board Chair Tanya Churchmuch; IGLTA President/CEO John Tanzella; Norbert Kettner, CEO of the Vienna Tourism Board; and Tom Roth, CEO of Community Marketing. Following the discussion, hundreds of LGBT travel professionals filled the Gay Pavilion for a networking reception sponsored by Here! Media, OUTtraveler.com, Visit Sweden, the Stockholm Gay & Lesbian Network and SAS Scandinavian Airlines, with drinks provided by Absolut Vodka. Click here to view photos of the event.
