IGLTA participates in a number of annual events, allowing us to better connect with our global members and share knowledge about LGBTQ tourism. In recent weeks, Clark Massad, VP-Global Partnerships, spoke on our consumer initiatives at a "Petit Déj Pro" breakfast meeting organized by the Paris offices of Hornet, and also traveled to Bilbao, Spain to offer support for their EPOA/Interpride board meeting and FAM. Clovis Casemiro, Membership Coordinator-Brazil, spoke on IGLTA at the third Meeting of the Committee of Presidents, hosted by Uber in São Paulo, which included companies that support the LGBT+ Business and Rights Forum, such as Bayer and AIG. He also had a stand at a recent event presented by Organizational Partner BRAZTOA. Next, Clovis will participate in WTM Latin America, 3-5 April, in São Paulo. Find out where to meet with IGLTA staff, board and ambassadors with a visit to our new Industry Events and Conferences page on our website. While Western companies increasingly encourage their employees to be themselves at work, people can run into laws and customs that don't accept their identities when they travel for business.
It's a contradiction that corporate travel managers are trying to cope with as they consider their responsibility to keep lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning (LGBTQ) employees safe as they travel.

Last week, the Philippines' legislature took major steps towards introducing a law that would legalize divorce in the only country, aside from the Vatican, without a legal provision for ending a marriage.
However, the new law may not make it past fierce opposition in the predominantly Catholic nation, including that of President Rodrigo Duterte, whose spokesman he is "against divorce."

It might surprise you to learn that queer people in Bermuda enjoy more rights, protections, and privileges under the law than LGBTQ+ people do in much of the world — including the U.S.
In the last six years, Bermuda has passed inclusive adoption legislation, special immigration protections for the same-sex partners of Bermudians, and federal protections that ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. In the U.S., in contrast, it remains legal to fire someone over their sexual orientation in 28 states; in at least seven states, it's legal for adoption agencies to turn away same-sex couples.

The Louisiana Supreme Court has sided with Attorney General Jeff Landry over Gov. John Bel Edwards in a fight over whether the governor had the authority to order protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people who work for state government.
"Hopefully, this will end the Governor's waste of precious taxpayer resources in defense of his unconstitutional actions," Landry said in a written statement Friday (March 23). "The Governor should live within the Constitution; and I will continue to stand for the separation of powers and the rule of law."
