Congratulations 2014 scholarship recipients
IGLTA
The IGLTA Foundation is providing five scholarships to attend our 31st Annual Global Convention in Madrid. Now in its second year, the Building Bridges Scholarship program was created to support the next generation of LGBT travel professionals. This year's program will provide all-expense-paid trips to Madrid including conference registration for two hospitality/tourism students, two individuals from small travel businesses, and one individual representing a destination or event in an emerging LGBT market. View bios and photos of this year's scholarship recipients who will travel from Brazil, Colombia, Curacao, and the United States.

Babs Daitch, our ambassador for the USA, roams across the tourism terrain with energy, panache and imposing tempo. For more than three decades, she has continuously played an important role within the lesbian and gay tourism community. Since 1981 she has served as product manager, programming director, business development manager, global travel adviser, tour director/guide, and travel event planner; she specializes in outdoor adventures and active vacations for seniors, students, and lesbian and gay travelers as well as volunteer and sustainable tourism and emerging markets in the tourism industry.

    Uganda enacts anti-gay law prompting Sweden to cut tourism ties

    Uganda President Museveni recently signed an anti-homosexuality law into bill, putting a tourism agreement between Swedish town Skelleftea and Uganda into jeopardy. In 2012, this agreement was signed indicating the joint work to be done for two big tourism events in Jinja — "Paint the City Bright" and "Relay from Jinja to Northern Sweden." Now with this new Ugandan anti-gay law, Skelleftea is protesting by suspending their participation in these tourist activities.

    Changes in Dallas as Wright Amendment comes to an end

    Oct. 13 will mark a change in aviation in the Dallas area as the 35-year-old Wright Amendment officially comes to an end, leaving downtown Love Field and its hometown airline, Southwest, free to pursue flights across the country. Southwest Airlines responded with the announcement of 15 new routes to be added from Love Field, starting the day the Amendment ends. What does this change mean for the future of the two major airports serving Dallas — Love Field and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport?
