Ireland could be 1st nation to legalize same-sex marriage by popular vote
The Washington Post
Catholic and deeply conservative, Ireland was long known as one of the toughest places in the Western world to be gay. Homosexuality was decriminalized here only in 1993, after years of pressure from European authorities. But now Ireland may be preparing for its coming-out party, with a referendum that could make it the world's first country to approve same-sex marriage in a popular vote.

Channel NewsAsia
Vietnam has become an unusual leader for gay rights in Southeast Asia this year. Lawmakers lifted a ban on same-sex marriage in a new law that took effect on New Year's Day. Strong dollar may hurt US tourism this year
By Suzanne Mason
The rise of the U.S. dollar has more American travelers are looking abroad for their summer destinations. As a result, more Americans are looking across the Atlantic for their summer getaways. And, despite coming off a record-breaking year in tourism, many U.S. tourism agencies are worried that the strong dollar could hurt their business rather than improve it.
