IGLTA will honor Argentina's Minister of Tourism, Carlos Enrique Meyer, for his commitment to LGBT travel on 18 June. IGLTA President/CEO John Tanzella will present the award during the 8th Annual GNetwork360 LGBT business and tourism conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Delta unveils $229M upgrade to LAX Terminal 5

Delta Air Lines celebrated the completion of its three-year, $229 million terminal-wide refurbishment of Terminal 5 at Los Angeles International Airport recently. The carrier staged a ribbon-cutting for the opening of Delta ONE at LAX, the carrier's first premium check-in lounge with a dedicated curbside entrance, a high-design atmosphere, and a security checkpoint accessible directly from the lounge.

Singapore's 'Pink Dot' LGBT rights rally sees record turnout

Singapore's Pink Dot gay rights rally drew a record number of participants recently, even as the country remains deeply divided over homosexuality. In early evening, a mostly young, pink-donned crowd was filling up the small Hong Lim Park, decked out in hot pink balloons and signs, next to Singapore's central financial district.

Pentagon extends protections to LGBT troops

Even the Pentagon is getting into the spirit of LGBT Pride Month. Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced Tuesday that the Pentagon's equal opportunity policy will, from now on, extend to protect the U.S. military's gay and lesbian troops, USA TODAY reported. Under the extension, military officials will be required to investigate complaints of discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Israeli Ministers reject opposition MK's LGBT rights bill

The Ministerial Committee for Legislation recently voted down a bill that would make it illegal to discriminate against LGBT people in any way. The legislation, proposed by MK Ofer Shelah (Yesh Atid), would make any law prohibiting discrimination based on gender, age, country of origin, etc. apply to LGBT people as well.

South Bend, Indiana, mayor comes out as gay in editorial

The mayor of Indiana's fourth largest city came out as gay in an editorial for the local newspaper recently. "I was well into adulthood before I was prepared to acknowledge the simple fact that I am gay," wrote South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg in a piece for the South Bend Tribune. "It took years of struggle and growth for me to recognize that it's just a fact of life, like having brown hair, and part of who I am."

Moroccan gay men to be tried for violating 'public modesty' over photo

Two Moroccan gay men are set to go on trial for violating "public modesty" after holding each other for a photo at a historic site in Rabat, and could go to jail for up to three years. Mohsine, a 25-year-old from Marrakesh, in the west of the country, and Lahcen, 38, from Rabat, were touring and taking pictures near Hassan tower, the capital's famous minaret, earlier in June when they were arrested by the police for supposedly standing too close to each other, activists said. It is not clear if the men were in a relationship.
