More hotel rooms are being built in China than anywhere else in the world, according to data compiled by STR Global, a market forecaster. At the top end, luxury brands like Aman Resorts and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts are racing to open new hotels in the country. For some rooms, they are charging China's emerging super-rich the equivalent of more than a thousand dollars a night.

Abertis offloads 2 European airports and significant US airport interests

Spanish transport infrastructure company Abertis Infraestructuras announced that it will sell airports in Sweden and Northern Ireland, as well as interests in U.S. airports. In a deal worth 284 million euros, Abertis will sell off ownership of Stockholm Skavsta Airport and Belfast International Airport, along with terminal concessions at Orlando Sanford International Airport, and its airport management business TBI. While the implications of the sale for each of the airports involved is not yet known, day-to-day operations will continue unchanged for the immediate future, with the new owners no doubt keen to assess the viability of the current model at each airport.
