Israel: Gay surrogacy bill passes first reading in Knesset

The bill, first announced in January, is intended to stop the need for gay Israeli couples to go abroad to adopt by granting same-sex couples the right to have children via surrogates in Israel. It was first submitted to the Ministerial Committee for Legislation by Health Minister Yael German, however it had stalled in March when housing minister Uri Ariel appealed against it, claiming the bill creates "moral and ethical" questions.

Philippine transgender murder becomes a rallying point for LGBT rights

The burial of transgender woman Jennifer Laude has sparked a "National Day of Outrage" in the Philippines, with LGBT organizations staging candlelight vigils across the country recently. A U.S. Marine has been accused of her killing.
"We will deliver messages of solidarity and push for justice," says Charlese Saballe, chairwoman of the Society of Transsexual Women of the Philippines (STRAP).
International visitors to US expected to reach record 88.3 million in 2014

International tourism to the U.S. is expected to grow to 88.3 million annual visitors 2019, a 27 percent increase and more than 18 million more visitors than arrived in the U.S. in 2013. This revised forecast was released by the U.S. Department of Commerce recently and it was based on the National Travel and Tourism Office's 2014 Fall Travel Forecast.
