CES: Everything old is new again
The New York Times
Friday was the last official day of International CES, the giant technology trade show in Las Vegas. It is also, as it happens, the eighth anniversary of the introduction of the original iPhone. These two facts stand in interesting contrast — one is a loud and flashy expression of what the future may hold, and the other is a life-changing technology we hardly saw coming.

Removing markings without stressing components
Circuits Assembly
Companies often want to have the markings on components removed to make it hard for rivals to easily find out what parts are used on the PCB. Similarly, military and security products without product part codes make them hard to reverse engineer or hack. The problem is that this is usually done after the PCB assembly otherwise it is difficult to ensure that the board is made correctly but, the usual technique of manually grinding the markings off, is time consuming and can often damage the component and stress the solder joints.

CES 2015: The final word

CES is dead. CES is amazing! CES brought new energy. Nothing new or interesting happens at CES. We've heard all of those opinions voiced publicly and privately over the past week during the 2015 International CES in Las Vegas. Truth be told, we hear them every year. The biggest tech show in the U.S. forces strong opinions, and no wonder. CES is gigantic, with 170,000 attendees and 3,600 exhibitors this year.

Gartner: Worldwide IT spending on pace to grow 2.4 percent in 2015
Gartner
Worldwide IT spending is on pace to total $3.8 trillion in 2015, a 2.4 percent increase from 2014; however, this growth rate is down from earlier projections of 3.9 percent, according to the latest forecast by Gartner, Inc. The slower outlook for 2015 is largely attributed to the rising U.S. dollar as well as a modest reduction in growth expectations for devices, IT services and telecom services.
