How to minimize impact of Middle East tensions on transportation costs

The tensions in Egypt, Syria, Libya and Yemen already have begun to effect supply chain spending. A white paper released by NPI estimates the average shipper will experience a 15 percent increase in transportation costs in the second quarter, with carrier fuel surcharges rising by more than 50 percent over 2010's levels.
