From the Executive Director: Carolyn Gaughan, CAE
KAFP
Dear friends,

I have two exciting things to offer today! First, the Membership Committee is ready to roll out a Membership Satisfaction survey, and you will receive a note about it on Thursday. The purpose of the survey is to learn your opinions and level of satisfaction with our Kansas AFP activities and efforts on your behalf. Thank you in advance for your answers, which will help us prioritize issues of importance to you, and provide insight into your satisfaction with our work. We always seek to serve members' needs!

Senate Committee Forwards Cap Legislation
The Senate Judiciary Committee took final action on SB 311, which would increase the capitation on non-economic damages in medical malpractice/personal injury judgments. The Kansas Medical Society in response to the Kansas Supreme Court Miller v. Johnson decision requested the bill. While upholding the constitutionality of the cap, the Court signaled that the amount of the cap should be reviewed, as it had been $250,000 for a couple of decades.
