From the Executive Director: Register today for Pre-session SAM and 2015 KAFP Annual Meeting
We are excited to announce that online registration for the Annual Meeting is open and the brochure has been mailed to you! Please let us know if you did not receive yours. The 2015 KAFP Annual Meeting "Focus on Family Medicine" is June 11-13, and I personally invite YOU.
We are pleased to offer again a Pre-session: SAM Group Learning, the day before the Annual Meeting. The topic is Care of the Vulnerable Elderly.
Moving toward adjournment
Dodie Wellshear, KAFP Government Relations Consultant
It's hard to believe that in less than two weeks, the Legislature will adjourn its regular session. April 3 marks the scheduled date, although legislators will likely wrap up on April 2 to avoid working on Good Friday.
House committees have largely wrapped up their work, although the Senate Assessment and Taxation Committee – a committee exempted from most legislative deadlines – will hold a hearing on the governor's alcohol and tobacco tax proposal on Tuesday afternoon.
Both chambers are planning to run their respective "mega budgets" this week with the hope that conference committees can begin hammering out bill differences as soon as Wednesday.

Time is running out to permanently repeal the SGR
Congress has a rare opportunity to repeal the flawed and failed Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) in the next few weeks, and replace it with Medicare payment reforms that support primary care and quality patient care.
Make a phone call to your representative to urge him or her to repeal the SGR.
2015 Family Medicine Match Results
Match Day is exciting for fourth year medical students, their advisors and residency programs! Prior to Match Day, which was March 20, fourth year medical students interviewed with residency programs and ranked their preferences. The programs also ranked the students. Students learned on Match Day where they matched and where they will go for residency training.
