Registration for Virtual SAM on Diabetes now available - only 16 seats left!

The Kansas Academy of Family Physicians, in partnership with the Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin constituent chapters of the American Academy of Family Physicians, is excited to announce a virtual, American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) endorsed countrywide self-assessment module (SAM) centered on diabetes for Sunday, Sept. 21, beginning at 5 p.m. CST, (typically takes four hours for completion). WBJ 2014 Health Care Heroes announced

Four KAFP members have been named honorees for the Wichita Business Journal (WBJ) Health Care Hero awards. Congratulations to Kim Hartwell, MD, and Terry Poling, MD, who are recognized in the Physician category, John Dorsch, MD, (University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita) in the Health Educator category and S. Todd Stephens, MD, (Via Christi Family Medicine Residency Program) recognized for International Outreach.

Open payments system reopens, extends physician registration and review period
Centers for Medicare & Mediaid Services
CMS announced that the Open Payments system is once again available for physicians and teaching hospitals to register, review and, as needed, dispute financial payment information received from healthcare manufacturers. The system was taken offline on Aug. 3 to resolve a technical issue. To account for system down time, CMS is extending the time for physicians and teaching hospitals to review their records to September 8, 2014. The public website will be available on Sept. 30.
