Open seats for SAM Group Learning Session, Dec. 5

KAFP will be hosting the SAM (Self-Assessment Module) Group Learning Session on Thursday, Dec. 5 in Wichita, Kan. We have open seats available. This SAM will assist you in completing the American Board of Family Medicine module on Hospital Medicine, as part of your maintenance of Certification (MC-FP) process. We must have a minimum number of participants to hold this SAM.

If you haven't participated or are available, please let us know! We need volunteers for the following dates: Feb. 14
March 4, 10, 13, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25
April 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30

You must be a KAFP member who is an active, life or resident member in your second or third year to serve as the Family Doctor of the Day at the Statehouse during the 2014 legislative session.

KDHE reports on health of Kansas veterans
KDHE
Kansas Department of Health and Environment released a report on the health of Kansans Veterans. The review of 2011 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data shows many differences in health conditions between veterans and civilians and between younger veterans (18-64 years old) and older veterans (65 years old and older). The data show that younger veterans are more diverse than older veterans. Younger veterans are less likely to be non-Hispanic white and more likely to be female.
