American men work from home more than women

It's time to get over the notion that most people working from home are moms who squeeze reports and conference calls in between children's games and Cheerios. A new survey shows that men vastly outnumber women in remote work — either from home, a coffee shop, a co-working or business center. And the Flex+Strategy Group survey also found that childless workers and parents almost equally commute down a flight of stairs to work.

McCain: If election were tomorrow, Clinton would be president

Sen. John McCain predicted if voters headed to the polls for the 2016 elections tomorrow, Hillary Clinton would be most likely be elected president — though the former secretary of state wouldn't be his pick. Asked by CNN's Piers Morgan on Thursday about 2012 Republican presidential candidate and Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann's recent assessment that America isn't ready for a female president, McCain said they have a different reading on the current political landscape.

Honda appoints 1st woman to its board

Honda has appointed a woman to its board for the first time and given a major promotion to a foreigner, in a sign that the automaker wants to change perceptions of a hidebound corporate culture. Technology expert Hideko Kunii, 66, will join the carmaker's board, while Issao Mizoguchi, a Brazilian of Japanese ancestry who has worked with Honda's South American operations for nearly 30 years has been appointed operating officer, Honda said. The appointments need shareholder approval at a meeting set for June.

There is a salary gap even when women pay themselves

Most of us have heard that in the workplace, women are paid less than men. But here’s a surprising corollary, courtesy of a recent study by Babson College: Female entrepreneurs actually pay themselves less than male entrepreneurs pay themselves. The study surveyed graduates of Goldman Sachs's 10,000 Small Businesses program. It discovered that not only do women pay themselves smaller salaries than men do but that the gender gap among entrepreneurs also closely mirrors the gap in the wider workplace.

Pam Grossman is using stock photography to change the way the world sees women. Grossman is a director of visual trends at Getty Images, the stock photo agency that supplies images not only for newspapers, magazines, and websites, but also a world of billboards, advertisements, and corporate marketing materials. Over the years, so many of the stock photos that litter of our everyday lives have portrayed women in unrealistic, unflattering, and sometimes demeaning ways, but Grossman recently teamed with LeanIn.org — the feminist non-profit created by Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg — to create a new collection of stock photos that aims to show women as they really are.
