Why women business owners really start up, and what's still in their way
Forbes
Women business owners are finding fulfillment on their own, according to a new study released by NAWBO and Web.com. For 92 percent of female entrepreneurs, the ability to do something they are passionate about was the main driving force behind business ownership. The chance to be their own boss and the potential for higher earning power followed closely, but flexibility and family brought up the rear in this year's survey.

How to ensure your business avoids 'Mobilegeddon'
By Jessica Taylor
Stop me if you've heard this before: "Your website needs to be mobile-friendly." Companies have heard this mantra for years, but now a tangible penalty is in effect, punishing websites that don't render well on smartphones and tablets. It's being called "Mobilegeddon." As of April 21, if your website isn't mobile-friendly, then you will likely be missing out on a lot of traffic. Why? Google shook up the way their search algorithm ranks websites, placing the ones that are mobile-friendly higher in the search from a smartphone or tablet than those sites that aren't.

New survey presents perplexing gender paradoxes
TakePart
Being a man isn't all it's cracked up to be these days: It's harder to find a job, it's tougher to figure out societal expectations and there’s a whole lot more housework, at least compared with a generation ago. The report presents paradoxes when it comes to how men view their home and family lives, especially in relation to women.

That's why we've compiled the ultimate list of LinkedIn dos and don'ts. (Thank-you card not required.)

The best and worst fonts to use on your resume
Bloomberg
A résumé, that piece of paper designed to reflect your best self, is one of the places where people still tend to use typeface to express themselves. It does not always go well, according to people who spend a lot of time looking at fonts. Bloomberg asked three typography wonks which typefaces make a curriculum vitae look classiest, which should never, ever be seen by an employer and whether emojis are fair game.

How to get a job if you're overqualified
Forbes
One of New York job coach Robert Hellmann's clients had an impressive résumé as a senior human resources manager. The client had logged 20 years of experience, managed 30 people and commanded a budget of $10 million. But he found himself at a point in his life where he didn't want the pressure that comes with a senior position. Instead, he was shooting for a job that only required eight years of experience and few managerial responsibilities. Hellmann's advice: Trim the résumé and focus it on the No. 1 must-do of job search — showing how you can help the employer.
