Ladies America announces 4th Annual 'Women Leading the Future' Conference
Ladies America
"Women Leading the Future" is a daylong conference hosted by Ladies America set for June 14, 2014 in the Washington, D.C. area. The conference includes upwards of 20-30 dynamic speakers and panelists of leading women (and some men) in the business, government, healthcare, journalism, law, military, finance, technology and more. In previous years, Ladies America has collaborated with Microsoft, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Center for Women in Business, the U.S.O. and the United Nations Foundation.

Women starting small businesses at torrid pace

There's a good chance a woman may become your boss if you go to work for a newer business. Women are starting companies at a rapid pace. They are starting about 1,288 companies each day, up from 602 in 2011-12, according to an American Express analysis of Census Bureau figures.

Minnesota governor signs law to give women a better workplace

Gov. Mark Dayton rang in Mother's Day recently by giving final approval to a package of bills aimed at improving conditions for women in the workplace. The Women's Economic Security Act, comprised of nine separate pieces of legislation, won legislative approval last week with bipartisan support. It forces about 1,000 state contractors to certify that they pay men and women equally for similar jobs, extends parental leave from six to 12 weeks and requires employers to make new accommodations for expectant and new mothers.
