How to cultivate brand authenticity for your business
By Emma Fitzpatrick
Brand authenticity is a term you hear a lot, but not everyone knows how to define exactly what the term means. Typically, you know it when you see it — and when you don't. For example, Spirit Airlines was in the hot seat recently for automating their social media platform. Customers looking for that personal touch got bombarded with canned responses. Yikes. The airline completely missed the point of social media — genuine connections between consumers and authentic brands.

Speaking etiquette: 10 solid ways to get yourself noticed
The Huffington Post
One of the most efficient and effective venues for getting yourself noticed is speaking to a group of people with a message that supports your knowledge, intelligence and strengths. People will not only listen, but take note of your presentation skills. Every speech is a prime opportunity to do something or say something that may come across as foolish. A joke may tank, a remark may be delivered incorrectly or you may fall on your face. Here's now how to minimize these risks by utilizing a few simple tools.

The 3 people who matter most in your network
Fast Company
We've all seen the Power Networker in action: working the room, flitting from conversation to conversation, a bulge of business cards in his jacket pocket. He's quick with a handshake and even quicker with an elevator pitch. He's there to meet as many people as possible. He's also doing it wrong. Building a network of people you can understand and identify with means taking a strategic approach to new relationships. Start by focusing on these three types of connections.

Why the future of work is looking bright for women
Business Insider
More and more companies are moving away from top-down hierarchies and toward more collaborative models. In what might be the buzziest example in recent memory, Zappos ditched managers altogether, as part of their high-profile transition to Holacracy, an alternative model structured around "self-management." But while Zappos may be extreme, it's hardly alone.

You're ending your emails wrong
Bloomberg
It's time to stop using "best." The most succinct of email signoffs, it seems harmless enough, appropriate for anyone with whom you might communicate. Best is safe, inoffensive. It's also become completely and unnecessarily ubiquitous. That development is relatively recent: A University of Pennsylvania study from 2003 found that, out of hundreds of emailers, only 5 percent opted to close with best. It came in behind "thank you" and "regards."

Are millennial women selfish for putting career above kids?
Forbes
For anyone born female, being judged on a daily basis comes with the territory. Most people have an unsolicited opinion about the way women look, behave and speak — and are more than willing to share. But if you're a young, successful woman who has deliberately not had children, expect to face an entirely new level of scrutiny.
