How women drive innovation and growth
Harvard Business Review
Women represent a growth market more than twice as big as China and India combined. They control $20 trillion in global consumer spending, own or operate between 25-33 percent of all private businesses, and earn an estimated $13 trillion. This "power of the purse" is growing rapidly; expectations are that it will swell to $18 trillion by 2014. For companies that figure out what women want, the future looks rosy indeed.

The increasing number of minority women business leaders
The Inquisitr
Forbes recently reported a surge in businesses owned not only by women, but by minority women. The last 15 years has been the major turning point: The growth rate was 156 percent since 1997. An amazing 33 percent of women-owned U.S. small businesses are made up of minority women leaders. An American Express report on the State of Women-Owned Businesses revealed these statistics, noting that the number of non-minority operated businesses grew only 32 percent.

Why women prefer working together
The Atlantic
One of the puzzles of the persistent gender wage gap is why women are highly overrepresented in certain fields, like the nonprofit sector, and hugely underrepresented in other fields, like financial institutions and executive positions in major companies. One reasonable question to ask about the gap is: How much should we blame "the system" and how much should we chalk this up to women's decisions.

Forbes
Despite the fact that the U.S. boasts over 8.6 million women-led businesses with a cumulative $1.3 trillion in revenues (not to mention that the number of women-owned businesses is growing at one and a half times the national average), one of the most oft-repeated challenges of women entrepreneurs is a perceived lack of support for their business ambitions.

When it comes to women's success, can gender cut both ways?
Forbes
"It's true that as a woman leader you attract probably a disproportionate amount of influence because there are so few of us," says Helen Clark, administrator of the United Nations Development Programme. Ranking an impressive 21st on the Forbes' list of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women, Clark has experienced first-hand how gender can cut both ways when working toward the highest levels of leadership success. Clark gained global recognition in 1999 when she was elected New Zealand's first female Prime Minister, an office she held for three consecutive terms.
