    Tampa Bay Times
One of the area's most prominent churches, Christ the King Catholic Church, has filed a lawsuit against a Tampa family, seeking property it says was left to the church in a deceased member's will and has been wrongfully withheld. The lawsuit was filed against Teresa "Terri" Gaffney, a lawyer who serves as counsel for the Hillsborough County Republican Party and is chair of Hillsborough's Judicial Nominating Commission, which vets judicial candidates and makes recommendations to the governor.

7 tips for hiring the right person for the church staff
    Ron Edmondson
Adding to a team is a critical decision — perhaps one of the most important a leader makes. New team members change the dynamics of a team. That will either be positively or negatively. In a day where budgets are thinner and the mission remains critical, we must hire the best people we can find.

Involving large church pastors in multiplication
    Christianity Today
One of the common struggles denominations often face is a difficulty relating to the largest, most innovative, and the most "Antiochish" of their churches. These churches and their leaders are often creative and/or proprietary in their approach to, well, everything, but particularly in terms of discipleship and multiplication. They have their own visions, goals and methodologies for seeing them accomplished.

Blessing of the bikes helps churches make climate change a local issue
    The Christian Century
In groups of eight or so, riders wheeled their bicycles down the red-carpeted center aisle of Toronto’s Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church. The white-robed officiant sprinkled holy water on about 50 riders’ heads, one by one, and on their bikes’ handlebars and wheels. It was the sixth annual Blessing of the Bikes at the downtown church — a type of local event that has become more common as a growing number of churches consider the idea that protecting the environment is not just a scientific or political debate, but a spiritual one.

Connecting faith and sports can be challenging, says seminary professor
    Baptist News Global
Top athlete John White says it can be difficult getting athletes, coaches and teams to see the value in acknowledging their bodies belong to Christ. It may seem odd to some to intertwine sports ministry with moral theology, but White said there is precedent for it in Christian history. “In moral theology the understanding is we are moral creatures” who must seek to connect “any sphere of activity toward God,” he said.

How Christian women are breaking through traditional book publishing barriers
    The Washington Post
Because few women were pastors back in the 70s, and fewer still were recognized as dynamic Bible teachers able to attract an audience, women were slow to break into Christian publishing. Today, 11 of 20 of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association top 20 non-fiction books for May 2015 were written by women.

Unusual entrant in food truck scene
    Fort Worth, Texas Magazine
Fort Worth has an unusual new entrant in the food truck scene: Arlington Heights United Methodist Church. The West Side church officially launched Five & Two - a take on Jesus’ feeding of the multitude with five loaves and two fishes - in a refurbished 1996 Chevy plumbing truck. The church sees the food truck as a way to take its ministry to people, rather than rely on them to come to the church. “How much more meaningful if we meet them where they are?” Lutes said during a Sunday sermon.

The missing ingredient in church leadership
    Church Executive
In the 1970s, one researcher noted: “There are almost as many different definitions of leadership as there are persons who have attempted to define the concept.” According to these definitions, leadership is influence, power, mobilization, motivation, processes, inspiration, among many others. The same could be said of the church: “There are almost as many different ways of leading the church as there are persons who have attempted it.”

How to help your audience genuinely care
    CEO
There are two basic styles of reasoning: Principles-first reasoning derives conclusions or facts from general principles or concepts. Basically you first establish the “why” before you move to the “what.” Applications-first reasoning is when general conclusions are reached based on factual observations. Basically you start with the “what” and then – maybe — move to the “why.” So how do we deal with those differences when speaking to an audience?

How to unleash the creative potential of your church
    Church Leaders
Napoleon once pointed to a map of China and said, “There lies a sleeping giant. If it ever wakes up, it will be unstoppable.” Today the American church is a sleeping giant. Each Sunday, church pews are filled with members who are doing nothing with their faith except “keeping” it. The greatest need in evangelical churches is the release of members for ministry. One of the key challenges facing a pastor is positioning his church as a creative place that needs the expression of all sorts of talents and abilities, not just singers, ushers and Sunday school teachers.
