Drama Awaits as Curtain Rises on 114th Congress
    Real Clear Politics
They're back — new and, some hope, improved. Tuesday marks the official start of the 114th Congress, one that will be led entirely by Republicans for the first time in nearly a decade. The GOP now has a 54-46 advantage in the Senate and its biggest majority in the House since 1929. Buoyed and emboldened by big wins at the ballot box last year, Republicans are prepared to push top party priorities right out of the gate, from the Keystone pipeline to Obamacare, while also attempting to show American voters they can effectively govern.

Senate Sets Up Showdown with Obama Over Keystone Pipeline
    The Hill
The Senate and President Barack Obama launched themselves on a collision course recently over the Keystone XL oil pipeline, with 60 lawmakers introducing a new bill to approve the controversial project and the White House promising to veto it. The White House said the president "wouldn't sign" legislation being considered by both chambers hours after Sens. John Hoeven, R-ND, and Joe Manchin, D-WV, introduced their legislation, citing ongoing litigation in Nebraska over the pipeline's route through that state.

Former YBTC Challenge Champion Wins USAID Grant for Hunger Research
In 2012, Alon Millet used his formidable science knowledge to win the New Jersey State You Be The Chemist Challenge® competition. Now, at age 16, he's spending his free time in a research lab, fighting world hunger. Alon's work treating mung bean seeds with a special protein compound has produced plants that are larger, hardier and resistant to toxins. The U.S. Agency for International Development is so impressed with the teen's research that the agency recently awarded him $10,000 and is helping him to apply for a patent.

The YBTC Challenge program inspires students across the country — like Alon — to fall in love with science. You can learn more about how to get your community involved in the Challenge by visiting CEF's website.

    How to Resolve Employee Conflict
    By Adrian Davis

5 Email Habits of Highly Productive People via The Huffington Post
Ping! Check email. Ping. Check email again. Ping. Check. Ping. Check. Ping. Check. If you're like most people who sit in front of a computer all day, this probably sounds like you: When you're not currently replying to an email, you're looking to see if you have any new ones. Then when something new does come in, you read it, debate how to respond, then deem it too time-consuming for the moment.
