You Be The Chemist® Activity Guides are a great way to get involved in your community!
Looking for simple ways to connect with schools and teachers in your community? The You Be The Chemist® (YBTC) Activity Guides are an award-winning K-8 science curriculum created by the Chemical Educational Foundation® (CEF). The Activity Guides are divided into two manuals by grade level (K-4 and 5-8), and contain lesson plans for activities that educators and parents can conduct with students — using inexpensive household materials — to build their understanding of chemistry and general science.

All of the lesson plans are available to download for free from CEF's website, but we also encourage companies to donate flash drives with the full curriculum on them to their local schools. The flash drives can be purchased at cost through CEF.

To place an order or find out more about the You Be The Chemist® Activity Guides, contact CEF staff at comments@chemed.org.

'My business's website is my favorite,' said no one ever
By Mark MacDonald
What is your favorite website? What site do you go to over and over again? It's probably not your business's — even if you designed and produced it. And the sobering truth is; that your customers and clients will never say your website is their favorite place to go online either. It will never happen. So should we just give up on creating a good small business website then? No. In fact, on the contrary, let's take a look at America's favorite websites and learn from them.

How to use body language in negotiation
Inc.
Many people don't realize that negotiation isn't just about what you say. Turns out there's a lot of valuable information hidden in people's gestures and facial expressions. The secret to becoming a better manager
Entrepreneur
Not all managers are cut from the same cloth, but the best ones have the ability to coach their employees to contribute meaningfully to the business and achieve personal satisfaction. Unfortunately, too many managers fail on both accounts, often because they haven't received proper training themselves. Learning how to unleash the potential of individual employees and teams is what separates the middle-of-the pack managers from the great ones.

Small business advice: How to take advantage of new tax rules this year
The Washington Post
The tax filing deadline for 2013 tax returns is right around the corner — March 17 for corporations reporting on a calendar year, and April 15 for partnerships, limited liability companies and sole proprietorships. More than one-third of business owners cut it close to the deadline and wait until two weeks before or less to file, according to a recent small-business survey by The Hartford. However, getting prepared earlier may be best in the long run.

If you want to be successful, welcome obstacles
Forbes
The people who succeed do more than the other guy. Sure, you can point to examples of people who really got lucky — they chose the right parents and inherited wealth or position or maybe they won some sort of lottery (genetic or actual) — but you never want to have to rely on pure luck for success. And so that means if you want to stand out from the pack, you need to welcome obstacles, so that you can overcome them.
