Michigan Teacher Wins Inaugural CEF Earth Day Challenge!
Middle school science teacher Amber Baaso and her seventh-grade class at Glenn H. Wolfe Middle School in Center Line, Mich., submitted the winning entry to the CEF Earth Day Challenge video contest, a competition for elementary and middle school classes that encourages students to explore their world using chemistry. Baaso's class conducted the "Antigravity Water" experiment from the You Be The Chemist® Activity Guides and made a video about what they learned. View the winning video here! CEF received entries from all over the country, from classrooms ranging from second to seventh grade.

With the $1,000 prize money from the competition, Baaso plans to take her students on a field trip to the Michigan Science Center to view the IMAX movie "Mysteries of the Great Lakes." The remaining funds will be used to purchase water testing kits for the school science programs. Sixty-six percent of the students in the Center Line school district receive free or reduced lunches.

To Create Change, Leadership is More Important than Authority
Harvard Business Review
Aspiring junior executives dream of climbing the ladder to gain more authority. They can make things happen and create the change that they believe in.
