    This year at the Annual Meeting, a special closing reception will be held aboard the U.S.S. Midway Aircraft Carrier on Thursday evening. In light of our theme of "Honoring Our Heroes," we are looking for military service photos from our members to highlight throughout the evening. These may be photos of yourself, parents or children AND employees or their family who have or are currently serving in our armed forces. Photos with the serviceperson in uniform are preferred. If you have a photo you would like to share, please send them to Lucinda at lschofer@nacd.com no later than Nov. 15.

    2012-2013 You Be The Chemist Challenge® cycle set to begin!

    In 2011-2012 the Chemical Educational Foundation® achieved its largest You Be The Chemist Challenge® participation numbers to date — reaching nearly 16,000 students across 22 states! With each Challenge cycle, CEF has been able to increase the number of students it engages in learning about the sciences, due in large part to the continued support of industry. CEF hopes to advance the Challenge's reach to an all-time high during the upcoming 2012-2013 Challenge cycle and would love your participation!

    Involvement with the Challenge is an excellent vehicle for getting industry members out in their communities, educating their neighbors, as well as future industry members on the importance of chemistry in our everyday lives.     The Chemical Educational Foundation® has officially released its Fourth Edition You Be The Chemist Activity Guides: Lesson Plans for Making Chemistry Fun! The Fourth Edition Activity Guides feature nearly 1,000 pages of lesson plans, science content, activity sheets and study materials designed to provide enriching scientific engagement in the classroom! The guides are completely electronic in format and can be downloaded — for FREE — by visiting the CEF website. You may also purchase the You Be The Chemist® flash drive that includes the guides, an "Introduction to CEF" video and much more!
