Stricter Regs Ahead: Telematics to the Rescue

If the Department of Transportation's Hours of Service (HOS) mandate that took effect this year wasn't enough of a hassle for vehicle fleet managers, they soon face another mandate, the Electronic Logging Device (ELD) rule that ensures commercial vehicles are complying with the HOS rules. ATRI: Trucking Industry Operating Costs Rise Again

Truckload Linehaul, Intermodal Rates Rise

The Cass Truckload Linehaul Index, which measures changes in per-mile truckload linehaul rates, rose 6.7 percent year-over-year in September and increased 2.4 percent above the August level. For the Cass Intermodal Price Index, total intermodal costs rose 2.7 percent year-over-year in September, but declined from August.
