Osmose, Inc. and Arch Treatment Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Arch Chemicals, Inc., both leading suppliers of wood preservative technologies, announced that they have entered into an agreement whereby Arch Treatment Technologies, Inc. and its affiliates have been granted a worldwide license to practice under certain patents owned by Osmose, Inc. covering the use of micronized wood preservatives, including the patent that was the subject of a previous dispute between the parties. Home remodeling industry growing

The home remodeling industry is on the grow again. Contractors who do custom home upgrades can expect the work to come in at a more steady rate soon. According to a recent study released by the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University, the industry hard hit by the economy is bouncing back. The National Association of Home Builders predicts the industry will recover this year and see about 10 percent growth by 2012. More
Construction employment improves in March

Despite the loss of 1,000 jobs in March, the nation's construction industry unemployment rate edged down to 20 percent for the month, according to the April 1 employment report by the Labor Department. Year-over-year, construction employment is down by 36,000 jobs, or 0.6 percent. The current rate is lower from 21.8 percent in February and 24.9 percent posted in March 2010. More
