Research report for NyloPorch confirms building code compliance

Building materials manufacturer NyloBoard, announced it has received its Code Compliance Research Report 0183 from Architectural Testing, Inc. for NyloPorch, its new tongue and groove porch board developed for porch floor applications. US: Demand for wood-plastic composites forecast to grow in the next years

Woodplastic and plastic decking is forecast to have the strongest market growth over the next four years, but wood will remain the main material on U.S. decks, according to market research company Freedonia's latest market outlook. The outlook for tropical hardwood use in decking is positive. Even when overall decking demand declined during the downturn in the housing market, demand for tropical hardwood decking grew.

Trex sets quarterly sales record with more business on tap
Plastic News
Composite deck maker Trex Co. Inc. set sales and earnings records for the third quarter of 2014 and is on track to see revenue reach $388 million for the year, which would be the highest ever for the firm. A new product line — selling recycled polyethylene film — could add even more to the bottom line for the company in 2015.

Managing risk in the construction industry

The construction industry is full of risks, from personal safety risks on construction sites, to financial risks and risks of business failure. Construction projects have several tiers, and every tier faces its own unique challenges and specific risks. While the risk of nonpayment is fairly universal in construction, the way that risk is shifted between parties and the tug-of-war to accomplish that financial risk-shifting provides interesting insights into the actual apportionment of risk in the construction industry.

Steven Kaplan said he wasn't looking to save on his utility bills when he added an outdoor cooking space to his Demarest home. Inspired by his family's love for the food they tasted on a trip to Italy, followed by repeated trips to a restaurant that featured a traditional wood-fired oven, Kaplan wanted an outdoor kitchen with his own traditional pizza oven.

The boss almost gave up on one of our plumbers, Mike. His average invoice was terrible at $400. He made excuses and blamed his circumstances. He was negative, and his attitude was that "life sucks." Mike thought nothing could change for him, and we were ready to let him go. However, one day while doing a ride-along with Mike, I recommended that he listen to "The Strangest Secret" by Earl Nightingale, a renowned motivational speaker. Mike listened and began to make changes, too. I was shocked and amazed to see his transformation.
