From March 7, 2012: As deck season approaches, manufacturers of composite deck boards are introducing new products — or expanding and improving old ones. Advanced Environmental Technologies Inc. is the proud parent of NanoShield, the first composite deck board to incorporate nanotechnology. From April 18, 2012: For many homeowners, the deck of their dreams is just that: Still a dream. That's the finding of a recent survey conducted on Facebook. More than 2,000 people responded to the query, "What would you do if you won $15,000 to spend on your deck?" Fans were asked to rate how strongly they felt about 11 different options, with one being least interested and 10 being the most interested. The No. 1 answer, with 47 percent giving it a 10, was to tear out the current deck and start over. More

Deck collapse leaves 10 injured

From July 18, 2012: The deck of a northwest Austin, Texas, home collapsed during a party, sending 20 or so people and debris scrambling down the canyon hillside below. Four people were sent to hospitals with serious injuries, mainly broken bones but nothing life threatening, Austin Fire Department spokesman Palmer Buck said. More
