Gaylord Entertainment CEO Colin Reed wants Tennessee to snag a larger portion of the $1 trillion worldwide tourism industry. While tourism and hospitality are Tennessee's largest private industries, valued at $14 billion, the state has historically failed to attract international travelers. Specifically, Reed said Tennessee's share of nationwide foreign travelers is less than 1 percent. More

Nashville airport undergoing facelift, adds new parking

The Nashville International Airport is getting a facelift, and all the work is being done overnight. They also have opened more short-term parking spots. The airport is replacing 1,000 glass panels above the ticketing terminal. They started work overnight recently and are using a crane to remove the heavy glass panels. More

Waylon Jennings' family will soon release songs the country music icon recorded shortly before his death 10 years ago. Musicians who worked with Jennings have gathered to finish the tracks. Jennings wrote at least eight of the 12 songs on the tentatively titled "Goin' Down Rockin': The Final Recordings." More

New hotel announced near Vanderbilt campus

Plans have been announced for a new seven-story, 192-room Homewood Suites hotel to be built near Vanderbilt University. The new hotel will be built near the entrance to Vanderbilt's campus. Homewood Suites is a Hilton brand of upscale hotels with "residential-style lodging" for extended stay customers. More

Permit: Ben Bredesen's brewery coming to east Nashville

Metro Nashville has issued a building permit for the conversion of a former east Nashville mattress factory to make way for two breweries. Fat Bottom Brewing and Broadcast Brewing Co. plan to operate out of the former Fluffo Mattress factory where a restaurant and beer garden are also planned. More
