Marion Military Institute ended atop the 12-team field at the 2012 Apprentice School Builder Invitational to win it's first major tournament of the season with 144 team points. The Apprentice School placed second with 135.5 while University of Maryland-Baltimore chalked up 130.5 to clinch the bronze medal. Oklahoma wrestling coach Mark Cody went to Kendric Maple and told Maple he was good enough to be an NCAA champion. And Cody walked away from that conversation convinced. "It's funny because sometimes you can mention things like that to guys and they don't believe it or buy in," Cody said. "Or they might tell me they can, but you can see it's not true. The MIT wrestling won all three matches at the Springfield Technical CC quad. MIT defeated Hudson Valley 36-18, University of Connecticut 36-18 and STCC 25-24. Captains Sam Shames and Ryan Madson both won all three of their matches by fall. Brian Anderson finished 3 and 0 on the day with three pins as well.
