UNWTO expects tourism to reach 1 billion arrivals in 2012

International arrivals grew by 4.4 percent in 2011 to 980 million, according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer. Young Americans are having a much tougher time finding work than older workers. The seasonally adjusted jobless rate for workers over age 55 stood at 6.2 percent recently, compared with 9.4 percent for workers age 25-34. And the overall workforce is getting more gray. Las Vegas aims to benefit from surge in foreign tourism

In 2010, 18 percent of the 37.3 million tourists who came to play in Las Vegas, or about 6.7 million people, experienced Las Vegas — a significant increase in international tourist numbers from previous years.
