Hotels seeing strength in short stays

American hotels' revenue per available room rose 9.4 percent from short-stay trips and 7.3 percent in the group-business travelers segment in the current fiscal quarter, said C. Patrick Scholes, an analyst at FBR Capital Markets. The lodging industry will continue to experience a slowdown in group bookings for the next several months because of the sluggish growth of business from associations, Scholes added. More
