The National High School Coaches Association, the National United Wrestling Association for Youth and Rocky Mountain Nationals are proud to announce the formation of the Ultimate Alliance that will focus on all-levels of the sport of wrestling. The partnership between these three organization will establish a foundation for athletes, coaches and programs to support wrestling from the youth level right through the professional ranks.

Son of former Minnesota Vikings head coach Bud Grant honored by NFL

Eden Prairie High School's Mike Grant, who's father Bud is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Canadian Football League's Hall of Fame, has been honored with its Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year Award. In 22 years at Eden Prairie, Grant has led the school to seven Minnesota state football championships, including three in a row while amassing an incredible overall record of 241-24.

In the 2012-2013 school year, 14,048 U.S. high schools fielded teams to play 11-man-per-side American tackle football. The 1,088,158 athletes who played on these teams in the 2012-13 school year made football the No. 1 participation sport in the nation's high schools, according to the most recent data published by the National Federation of State High School Associations.

ACE study finds gaps in youth coaches' level of knowledge

Do youth coaches need coaching, too? According to an independent study released today by American Council on Exercise, youth coach participants averaged a "C" grade on a survey evaluating their preparation and qualifications. ACE commissioned this study because the demand for youth coaches and volunteers has quadrupled to accommodate the more than 40 million children participating in youth organized sports, a steady growth over the past 20 years.

Youth participation weakens in basketball, football, baseball, soccer
