This week in the world of outrageous art, a swanky hotel in Indianapolis has commissioned British street artist Nick Walker to decorate the walls of its parking garage with pre-ordered graffiti designs. Yes, unlike other businesses, the Alexander Hotel welcomed a man with a can of spray paint to "vandalize" its property, all in the name of contemporary art. More

Bad Parking Job? Text the Driver Through the License Plate
CNET    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Trying to find parking in San Francisco sometimes feels likes a car-based version of "Survivor." It's not pretty. Cars block driveways, drivers forget to curb their wheels, lights get left on, and meters run out. These are all reasons why you might want to contact a vehicle's owner. If everyone in San Francisco signed up for CurbTXT, then it would be easy to get in touch. More

Mexico City in Big Battle — Over Parking Meters
The Associated Press via    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Every day before dawn, dozens of men appear in Mexico City's hip Condesa neighborhood and block off parking spaces along entire streets using water jugs, cardboard boxes, buckets, crates and even blocks of cement. As visitors start arriving for the district's restaurants, organic food stores, boutiques and art galleries, the men collect 20 to 40 pesos ($1.50-$3), remove the obstructions and let drivers park. WBBM-TV    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Police agencies have been cracking down on people who abuse handicap parking privileges. But is a misinterpretation of the law punishing those who need the privilege the most? Edward Reingold thinks so. After he dropped off his wife at a local hospital for radiation treatments for a brain tumor, Reingold parked nearby in a place reserved for handicapped parking using her state-issued placard. A police officer apparently ticketed him because his wife was not in the car when he parked. More

Arizona Daily Sun    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
So you've driven to the big city to shop, parked the car, plunked a quarter into the meter and — nothing. Another quarter or two. Still a red flag. And you're now out of coins. Arizona lawmakers have taken the first steps to end that frustration — and the risk of getting a ticket for parking there anyway — by approving a new requirement for cities to regularly do random tests of meters to ensure that not only that they're working but that they're accurate. Cinema Blend    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
VideoBrief By Mack Rawden: Ordinarily, I'm not a big fan of passing along advertisements, but now and again, I stumble upon something too awesome not to be shared — like this Audi park assist. Automatic parking features have been around for quite a few years now on various models, but I'm not sure any company has come up with something as technologically advanced and straight up baller as this. This new Audi model can actually find its own parking spot with just a few clicks on a smart phone. More
