Gold analysts get most bullish in a year after rout: Commodities

Gold analysts are the most bullish in a year on speculation that investors are reducing near-record bearish bets after the biggest plunge in prices since 1981. Fifteen analysts surveyed by Bloomberg News expect gold to rise, two are bearish and four neutral, the highest proportion of bulls since December 2012.

New limits proposed on gun sales to mentally ill

The Obama administration is seeking broader measures that would prohibit the mentally ill from buying and possessing firearms. In a plan unveiled, the Justice Department is requesting that current prohibitions related to mental illness be extended to those found incompetent to stand trial, people found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect and others "lacking mental responsibility."

Indianapolis man finds possible child porn in tablet bought at pawnshop

An Indianapolis man got more than he bargained for when he picked up a tablet at a pawnshop. James Eaker bought the Kindle Fire for his 18-year-old daughter, Jessica, as a Christmas gift. She opened it only to find multiple pornographic pictures and home videos involving what looks like a young girl.

Pawnshops in China fooled with gold-plating

A man has been indicted for passing off gold-plated silver necklaces as gold jewelry at several pawnshops in the city, Yangpu district prosecutors said. The suspect, surnamed Li, was charged with fraud for pawning two necklaces under a false pretext, according to a press release from the Yangpu District People's Prosecutor's Office.

A 35-year-old man was charged with theft and forgery after Austintown, Ohio, police say he used a fraudulent check at a local pawnshop. In March 2013, police were called to Austintown Pawn for a fraudulent check for $1,980.

Police seek suspect in jewelry pawning

Police are seeking a woman who is accused of pawning stolen jewelry in Peoria, Ill. Jasmine O. Stone, 28, of 1525 NE Starr Terrace pawned several items of jewelry Dec. 13 at Gold Stop in Northwoods Mall, according to police. They said those items were stolen.
