Boy who witnessed Danville, Ky., pawnshop murders following in parents' footsteps

For the first time, a brave young child who watched a family friend kill his parents at their Danville, Ky., pawnshop, is speaking out. Nine-year-old Andrew Hockensmith sat down with Louisville TV station WHAS to share how he's doing now and how he plans to finish what his mom and dad started. Andrew returned to Ferguson Baptist Church, a place his family used to go to often, on Feb. 2 to get baptized, just how he wanted to.

Bradenton, Fla., man charged with pawning 18 rented iPads

A 58-year-old Manatee County, Fla., man was arrested Wednesday, charged with defrauding a pawn broker in an unusual case involving 18 iPads and an XBOX. Between Dec. 9 and and Dec. 28, Robert Berger rented 19 devices from Rent King using the guise that he was starting a business, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report.

Watchful residents help catch pawnshop thief in Georgia

A burglary suspect is in jail after two alert citizens in Rockdale County, Ga., called 9-1-1 about someone trying to break into a pawnshop. Deputies responded to a prowler call at Fieldstone Pawn. Two different 9-1-1 callers told dispatchers that they could see someone inside the fence surrounding the pawnshop.

Facebook and Instagram in talks with gun control advocates seeking to ban gun sales on social sites

Two of the country's most influential gun control groups are in talks with Facebook's legal team in an effort to see gun sales banned on the world's largest social network and its sister site Instagram. Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In America has partnered with Michael Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns to put pressure on Facebook to prohibit the private selling or trading of guns on its platforms — a practice that's as widespread as it is unregulated.

Bill would legalize payday lending in Pennsylvania, labeled predatory by critics

ACE Cash Express is the nation's second largest payday lender, but customers who want a financial lifeline until their next paycheck won't get help in any of its 19 Pittsburgh-area stores. Payday loans are illegal in Pennsylvania, and that has limited Ace to cashing checks, selling money orders and processing bill payments for its customers, among other services.

2 men accused of stealing electronics from Florida senior communities

Police arrest 2 in Barbourville, Ky. pawnshop scheme

Two Barbourville, Ky. pawn shop employees were arrested Wednesday accused of accepting items they knew were stolen and reselling them. Michael Gray, 43, and Lewis Gray, 47, both of Flat Lick Ky., are charged with engaging in organized crime.
