US Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer reintroduces Operation Choke Point legislation

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-Missouri, has reintroduced legislation to end Operation Choke Point, according to an opinion piece published in The Hill. "Operation Choke Point is an organized attempt by the administration, the FDIC and the Department of Justice to bully and intimidate financial institutions so they won't offer financial services to certain licensed, legally operating industries the government doesn't like in an attempt to choke off those industries from our country’s banking system. The program has been in effect for a few years now, but it has gone into overdrive within the past year," Luetkemeyer wrote.

Pawn database finds tools stolen from fire station in Washington state

A break-in cost a Spokane County, Washington, fire station more than $3,000 in equipment in February and on March 9, the one of the suspects faced a judge. Brandon P. Goyne, 20, was arrested for stealing a Dewalt compressor and a 32-inch flat screen TV from a fire station.

Police catch suspected pawnshop burglars
Durant Daily Democrat
Two Mesquite, Texas, men have been arrested for suspicion of burglarizing a Durant, Oklahoma, pawnshop. Jordan D. Arango and Kai J. Webb, both 19, have been charged with second-degree burglary and knowingly concealing stolen property.

New Apple Watch models with different casing materials expected to launch this fall

In a new research note published by KGI Securities on Wednesday, a copy of which was obtained by AppleInsider, Kuo said he expects at least one, but as many as three, new casings to go into production in the fourth quarter of calendar 2015. Those new models, he said, could debut as soon as this fall.

Obama administration forgoes plan to ban popular rifle ammunition

Amid an onslaught of criticism, the Obama administration has dropped plans to ban a popular type of rifle ammunition that can pierce a police officer’s protective vest if fired from a handgun, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said. More than 80,000 people have commented on the proposal to ban certain types of 5.56 mm, or .223 caliber, ammunition since the agency announced its proposal last month. An ATF spokeswoman, Ginger Colbrun, said the vast majority of comments were critical of the proposal.
