In the age of digital money, counterfeit bills still a problem
U.S.News & World Report
The money for the ambitious criminal is in identity theft, we've been led to believe, but dealing in counterfeit bills remains a thriving career path for the nation's underworld. In just the past few weeks, fake $100 bills turned up at a Kohl's department store and gas station in Albuquerque, N.M. New law requires photos of sellers to pawnshops
The Virginia Gazette
To curb the sale of stolen property, pawnshops in Virginia soon will keep a photo of people who sell the stores items. And pawnbrokers will be prohibited from receiving or re-selling goods if the original serial number has been altered or change. That's the gist of a new state law that will take effect July 1. The General Assembly unanimously passed House Bill 1649 this year, and Gov. Bob McDonnell signed the legislation into law last month.
