Manchester-based Mays Pawnbrokers welcomed a special guest from across the pond this week (May 11) to celebrate its 190th birthday in style. Seth Gold of American Jewelry & Loan is one of the stars of U.S. TV programme Hardcore Pawn – a reality show that follows Seth his sister Ashley and their father in their day-to-day lives as Detroit pawnshop owners.

A Florida pawnshop and gun dealer is finding out just how hard it is to get a bank loan to buy inventory. The Daily Signal reports the owner of Michael's Pawn and Gun said the minute a rep from TD Bank clicked on the 23-year-old Fruitland Park, Florida business's Facebook page, any chance of getting a loan was over.

Police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, arrest 1 man in pawnshop theft, shooting; 2nd suspect still at-large

Baton Rouge Police in Louisiana have arrested one man in connection with a pawnshop theft that left an employee wounded. Baton Rouge Police Cpl. Don Coppola said Christopher Stovall, 17, of Baton Rouge turned himself in to the 2nd District Precinct around 7 p.m. Monday (May 11). Police later booked him into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of attempted second-degree murder and theft with a firearm.

Fancy Color Diamond Index holds firm

Analysis of the latest data published by the Fancy Color Research Foundation in its third Fancy Color Index reveals a stark contrast between the performance of colored diamonds and their colorless counterparts. While white diamond categories suffered price declines of 4 percent to 6 percent, according to the Rapaport Group's RAPI™, the value of fancy colored diamonds continued to hold firm, with key types increasing in value, during the period between January and April 2015.

Maid charged with pawning $7,000 in jewelry stolen from Pennsylvania cop's home

A Merry Maids employee is charged with pawning $7,000 worth of jewelry stolen from a Pocono Mountain Regional Police officer's home in Pennsylvania. Nancy Yvette Rivera, 32, of Marshalls Creek, is charged with felony receiving stolen property and felony theft. Ordered placed in Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 bail, Rivera will be scheduled to appear in district court at a future date.
